The Deaf community
Deaf people have a central role to play in the development of BSL/English interpreting. We intend to engage with the Deaf community by visiting local clubs, forums and groups. This will give us the opportunity to raise awareness about SASLI and learn about some of the key issues relating to Deaf people. Topics may include:
- Raising awareness about SASLI and working with BSL/English interpreters;
- Identifying local priorities;
- Providing information relating to SASLI’s Complaints Procedure;
- Seeking ways of increasing involvement in SASLI’s policy consultations.
This two-way exchange of information is central in developing the partnership between Deaf people and interpreters.
- Statement regarding the position of the Deaf Users’ Group (DUG)
- Meeting dates
If you would like to invite SASLI to have an open meeting at your club, forum or group, please contact the Director.
